Ministry Mission Statement:
We strive to help children realize that they have come from God and that God longs to be in a continual relationship with them. We seek to help children understand that God loves them with an everlasting love not because of what they do, or what they look like, or how they perform, or what they accomplish in life but because God has created them and loves them unconditionally. Finally, we work together to develop a close relationship to God. A place where children can worship joyfully, learn creatively, and express their faith enthusiastically.
What positions are we looking for more volunteers?
Teachers for preschoolers and younger elementary children
What is your role as a volunteer?
You are a co-learner, enabler, organizer, listener, and sharer of your faith.
What qualities and specific skills do we need?
A teacher in the church must be a caring person. Caring involves taking the necessary time to prepare for the class and taking time to do special extras for the students. Caring involves knowing the students and recognizing ways that they may be affirmed.
Communication skills are of primary importance to teachers. Consider the age level of the student. Children cannot grasp abstract concepts. Be able to communicate on the student level.
It is important for teachers to have a basic knowledge of the Bible, and to be willing to learn more.
Teachers must also exhibit faithfulness to the church.
Teachers should have personal integrity, displaying evidence of their faith in all areas of life.
Why join this ministry?
This is a fast growing ministry with a great need and much reward. The children will love and admire you for all your faithfulness and dedication.
How much time do I need to commit?
The teachers must commit to teaching quarterly. This means you are required to teach three consecutive months out of the year.
Testimonial by Jennifer Choi
Serving in the children’s ministry has been both challenging and rewarding. I’m thankful that I am able to use my gift of love to share God’s love. I have to admit that I was hesitant to serve as a teacher, thinking that I wasn’t quite “qualified”? But God has moved my heart and assured me that a willing and passionate heart was all that was needed? I am filled with joy each time my students show eagerness to learn about Christ, whether it be through games, crafts, or stories. In addition to my teaching, the children have taught me so much by keeping an open and pure heart? I hope that I have been as much of a positive influence on these children as they have been for me.
